Call Me Bean
This book, play and then pilot, is based on a series of selected Diary Entries, each entry a common universal issue that most all generations can relate to.
With the teenage Protagonist, Sabrina, over a period of years 13-17. You, the reader, will follow Sabrina as she learns – sometimes the hard way – to confront and question social injustices all young adults are confronted with during their school years. Have you ever wondered if you would stand up for a friend being bullied? How would you deal with it? Do you act according to a set of beliefs or principles you have chosen to live your life by? Do you feel self-confident, or do you lack confidence in yourself? Everyone feels both at times.
Do you think about the consequences of your actions before acting on your thoughts? What about laying it on the line in standing up for what you believe in? How do you feel and act towards others different from you? Do you conform according to your peers at school? Or do you conform to your own set of principles?
If you ask yourself any of these questions, this book is for you. You will find you have been confronted by the same issues as Sabrina. The protagonist is far from perfect, and she does make mistakes, but we can gain self-confidence in confronting our dilemmas and demons with her, cheering her on and helping her up when she falls. Each of Sabrina’s diary entries is a complete short story, dealing with yet another challenge to overcome.
Enjoy your journey with Sabrina as she takes on challenges in life that will cause her to change and mature as a young adult in the real world.
